Assist Hooks

Assist hooks are purpose-designed for use with metal jigs in offshore and deep-sea jigging applications. Unlike treble hooks, assist rigs hook fish quickly, reduce foul-hooking of non-target species, and dramatically lower the chance of the hook gaining leverage to pull out during the fight.

Assist hook size should be matched to your jig size: as a general rule, the hook gape should be approximately one-third of the jig body length. For jigs under 100g, use #2/0–4/0 hooks; for jigs 100–200g, use 4/0–5/0; for jigs above 200g, use 5/0–7/0.
